Groundwater is one of the most important and vital natural resources in arid and semi-arid regions. The purpose of this study is to determine the potential of groundwater in different areas of the watershed and prioritize the factors affecting it. In this study, 14 indices are used which affect groundwater potential including slope, elevation, slope aspect, topographic curvature, distance from the stream, drainage density, distance from the fault, fault density, topography humidity index, lithology, land use, relative slope position, index Topographic position, and topographic hardness index. Also, from 145 sources, randomly 30% were classified as validation data and 70% were categorized as test data. In this research, the Maximum entropy and MaxEnt model were used to prioritize the effective factors and zonation of groundwater potential using ArcGIS in the Piranshahr watershed area. Also, the ROC model was used to evaluate the model. The results showed that 33.6% of the watershed has groundwater potential, which is located mostly in the center of the watershed. Also, based on the jackknife chart, humidity, topography, DEM, lithology (Sandstone and shale), topographic hardness index, topographic position index and slope were the most important factors influencing groundwater potential. The area under the curve shows the accuracy of 93% (excellent) at the training stage and 81% (very good) in the validation stage for determination of the watershed groundwater potential. The results of this research can be used to manage the groundwater resources of the Piranshahr watershed due to population growth.
